L’anello del XIX secolo è composto da un’essenziale montatura in argento, impreziosita da un medaglione centrale in oro raffigurante il volto di Medusa. Questo anello emula l’antica pratica, in uso già nella Grecia del VI-V secolo a.C., che vedeva l’apposizione del volto di Medusa sulle monete con un intento apotropaico, poiché si pensava che scacciasse il male e attirasse la fortuna.

The 19th century ring is composed of an essential silver frame, embellished with a central gold medallion depicting the face of Medusa. This ring emulates the ancient practice, already in use in Greece of the VI-V century BC, that saw the apposition of the face of Medusa on coins with an apotropaic intent, as it was thought to drive out evil and attract fortune.
